Out of a family of 4 children, she was the only child who picked up her father's trade.  Her father had been a tailor, specilaizing in custom-made suits for some of the most influential men in the Taunton area.  After working for over 30 years in Lisbon, he immigrated to New England to continue his trade and assist his family in living a better life.

Isabel opened her first store at 45 Main Street below what was then Goodnow's and where her father had worked for about 20 years.  As a child she visited her father's place of employment.  In those early years she can remember having the desire of following in her father's footsteps.

After 4 years of catering to her customers alteration needs, she developed a desire to offer what her customers had requested.  Because the downtown area lacked fashions for the average to "plus" woman expecially in the bridal industry, Isabel decided to pursue the possiblity of entering the retail market.
